Nhân-Hoà Village
BUILDING A FUTURE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF NHÂN-HOÀ VILLAGE
Nhân-Hoà’s History
Finding the roots of Nhân- Hoà village, one could not help but be touched and expressed gratitude by the sacrifices of ancestors over generations in order to build up a village of Nhân-Hoà as today.
At the beginning of the eighteenth century, two families with about 12 people living by fishing on the Cấm river came to Rú Tháp to settle. That was the beginning of the process of forming the Catholic community of “Trại-Nóng”, belonging to Nhà-Chung parish (Xã-Đoài).
By 1760, when the number of church goers in their community increased to about 200, they chose the land of Cồn Re in the foothills of Rú Tháp, now in Nghi Thuận commune, to settle. In 1814, King Tự Đức opened a shortcut through the Cấm River, whereby more than 40 households in the TrạiNóng crossed the river and settled on a land that ancestors at that time viewed as gifts of Thiên-Chúa (God of heaven) . Thanks to the harmony of people’s hearts here, since then, it was called the Catholic community Nhân-Hoà.
Over time, despite the hardships, being imprisoned through Catholic persecution: The growing faith here is miraculous increased day after day. In 1914, Nhân-Hoà was promoted to a parish. At that time there were about 1,000 people, separated from the Xã-Đoài parish, and a rather spacious chapel built for morning and evening prayers to worship God.
The injustices of the times, the devastation of the nature and weather have forged the people of Nhân-Hoà to become resilient but honest, naive, tolerant and hard-working.
